A nice round number
Most people’s paychecks come out to some odd number, which they never really memorize. My paycheck comes out to a nice round number that is very easy to remember. Why do I care? Because it makes it blatantly obvious how much of my paycheck is going toward taxes.
Recently, I had to bump up my FICA contributions. The increase didn’t seem like much per paycheck to avoid a huge tax bill at the end of next year, but at after a little more thought, I am giving away almost another 9% of every paycheck.
I wonder if death sucks as much as taxes. At least death only happens once.
