101 Days until Cancun
And I am fat.
Not obese, but I have more body fat than I would like if I am going to chasing bikini clad women around a Mexican beach this summer.
So my long term plan:
Decrease binging eating and drinking. The only problem I really have with this, during non-holiday events, is going out for Tex-Mex. My typical Tex-Mex meal is 3 enchiladas, a taco, a tamale and a few frozen margaritas. Even if this only happens twice a month, that still an additional 7000 calories that needs to be burned off, maybe more. Man I love fresh chips and salsa. In the future, fajita’s and one margarita on the rocks.
Decrease alcohol consumption. I need to limit myself to one glass of wine a night on average, two max in one night. I don’t think I am getting too many calories from alcohol, but I do think that when I am drinking I am drinking too much in one night, and impairing my recovery for my next workout.
Cut out pasta. For the next two weeks, I am going to try to eat just a mix of vegetables and protein. Fats will come primarily from olive oil and nuts. I eat the same thing for lunch and dinner most of the week, as I cook Sunday for the week. This week, I have 4 meals of chicken stir fry ready to go, and have something planned for later in the week made from spinach and ground beef. There is currently 3lbs of spinach in my fridge
More cardio. I am on a no cardio workout plan right now. If I can get 3 days of cardio in, in addition to my 3 days lifting, I will be much better off. I am currently getting my ass handed to me every time I play racketball, and while the main problem is that I suck at racketball, a better cardio base should help.
I am very happy with my lifting, and one of these days I will post the details about what I am doing and how I have progressed, but about six weeks ago I changed my diet plan to make sure I am well fed to recover from my workout. Turns out I am too well fed, and while I gained alot of muscle, I gained fat faster. I am still by American standards thin, but I can see a “smoothing” of the abdomen area that I find undesirable.
What I really need to do is keep detailed logs of what I do physically, what I eat, what I weigh and how I feel. Really, is it that hard to carry around a notebook and keep a journal of this shit? It is for me, because, I am LAZY. Maybe one day when I think I have more time.
